South Bay Yacht Racing Association Skippers & Crews:
Attached please find the results of last Saturday's race on the Sequoia YC race course south of the Hayward-San Mateo Bridge.
Winter #5 was sailed in 15-21 knots of wind in conjunction with Sequoia's own winter series and attracted a total of 13 boats.
Scored separately, the seven SBYRA boats that competed finished as follows:
Spinnaker Division (4 entries):
1. Mist, Beneteau First 38, Robert Hu and Keith Barker
2. Paradigm, J/32, Luther Izmirian
3. Jet Lag, Catalina 34, Torin Knorr
Nonspinnaker Division (3 entries):
1. Spirit, Hunter 37 Legend, Wayne Weathers
2. Hot Ice, C&C 110, Mike Haddock
3. Spirit, Catalina 27, Alan Orr & Mark Green
I wasn't able to sail Saturday but I heard the Sequoia YC race committee headed by first-timer Olivier Lauveral (and ably assisted by Kevin & Renee Hartig of SPYC) did an excellent job of running the event. Thanks to them for their leadership atop Redwood Creek.
FYI, our next race will be the first of SBYRA's Summer Series. Summer #1 will be held on Saturday, April 12, on the Sierra Point YC course just north of SFO.
Please sign-up for this seven-race series on our association's internet site beginning next week.
Also please encourage new skippers to join us in SBYRA's Novice Division which has its own start at each race following the gun for the Nonspinnaker Division.
